"The Yakutian Laika is a recently recognized breed with a long history. Yakutian Laikas are spitz-type dogs from Russia, bred for hunting, sledding, and other tasks. The Yakutian Laika, specifically, was bred by the Yakutes in Russian Siberia; they were the first people to utlize a dog in sled pulling. Today, these dogs can still perform the originally work they were bred for, but they can also make wonderful, active family companions. 

Our kennel has been the cornerstone pioneering kennel in bringing the Yakutian Laika to the USA.  We made the first major efforts in the Yakutian Laika breed to bring the best bloodlines and bring in proven dogs.  Several of our dogs are dual titled in Russia in both conformation and sledding.  We started in on health testing the moment our first Yakutian Laikas arrived in the USA by sending off swabs for XLPRA1 testing back to Russia as it was not available here in the USA at that time.  And we haven't stopped. Watch for updates as we have a lot of information to add to this page. 

You will find that our dogs are also the root stock in almost every other Yakutian Laika kennel in the USA as well finding our dogs or their siblings in most pedigrees in Europe.  We highly encourage you contact us if you are interested in the breed to learn more.  We appreciate those who have chosen to get their puppies directly from us as it helps us continue to keep these bloodlines we imported going here in the USA.  The cost for doing so is very high.  But, I knew that importing was getting harder and harder.  I could not have predicted it would come to be nearly impossible to bring them here legally nor the AKC ban on registering newly imported Russian dogs.    Your support in choosing us as your breeder is greatly appreciated.   We have imported the most diversity in the breed in the USA and because of that we definitely know the bloodlines, their temperaments, traits and health best.   We keep several males because we want to be able to keep building a diversified gene pool here and avoid popular sire syndrome as much as possible. 

 We also do not and will not remove dew claws on our puppies, front or back.  Some Yakutian Laikas may have single or double rear dew claws, which we do not remove.

• Crufts Qualifier - Yakutian Laika unfortunately cannot actually compete at Crufts yet.  But, he won the qualifying event.  

Flash was born in Russia and originally sold to a wonderful family in Ukraine. In 2022 that family needed to leave Ukraine.  They of course took their dogs with them including their most notable dog Flash.  Upon resettling they found it hard to get a rental with larger dogs and Flash was with a friend in Germany.  She mentioned a male that was available and when I saw it was Flash I spoke up for him immediately. He is a great boy. He loves his life in Texas and is off lead reliable on our ranch despite coming to us as an adult dog.  I have included some of his awards that did make their way to us despite his relocation happening multiple times during the current war.

Misha was purchased by us as an adult but then we had him stay in Russia about a year to earn his Russian Championship, learn sledding and allowed him to be bred while there to leave some offspring in Russia.  Those puppies have done remarkably well including Rundogs Reach For The Stars who was the number one Yakutian Laika in Russia in 2023.    I am honored to have made that breeding possible.

Jenny is a very sweet female with an amazing temperament.  She was health tested in Russia before coming to Texas as an adult.  She was offered to us by Svobodnaya Staya kennel to add the bloodline here in America.   Jenny produced a litter sired by Svobodnaya Staya Yamal before she came to us.  That litter produced one of the top winning Yakutian Laika females in Europe.   We are making plans for breeding her in 2025 to one of our Yamal sons or possibly to our Yamal half brother Nitro.   Either way this will be a very anticipated litter.
